Seaham Hall hotel is drenched in history: Lord Byron married Annabella Milbanke here in 1815, and the ancient stones of Hadrian’s Wall are a short drive away. However, this design hotel and its Serenity Spa face resolutely towards the future. As the William Pye water sculpture in front of the clifftop house in North-East England declares, Seaham and its facilities are as 21st-century as they can be.
