Airbnb is now offering 2,000 homes in 13 cities that have been personally verified with Airbnb Plus

We all get the fear when rocking up to an Airbnb. What if it’s actually tiny? What if the sheets weren’t changed after the last guests? What if we find a nail clipping in the fridge?

If we rely on ratings and feedback, it’s very rare to be met with disappointment. Even so, some are still reluctant to use the site, opting for more luxurious hotels and villas instead. But thanks to a brand new update, that’s about to change.

The world’s largest home-stay network has rolled out Airbnb Plus, offering a new, higher-quality tier of property. Some 2,000 homes in 13 cities have been personally inspected using a 100-point checklist with special attention paid to cleanliness, comfort and design.

The new tier of accommodation promises to offer: “Beautiful homes. Exceptional hosts. Verified for quality,” which should put dubious guests mind’s at ease. The price tags aren’t too shabby, either.

As well as Airbnb Plus, new search options have been announced with Airbnb Collections. In addition to the Entire Home, Private Room and Shared Room search functionality, new filters will be added so looking for the ideal property will be easier. You will now be able to look for the perfect venue for a wedding, honeymoon, business trip or something extra special should become stress-free.

Not content at these major updates, Beyond by Airbnb is set to launch later this year, offering even more luxurious options, custom-designed trips of a lifetime and stays at some of the world’s finest homes.

The updates were announced by Airbnb CEO and Head of Community, Brian Chesky, who noted: “Ten years ago we never dreamed of what Airbnb could become. In fact, people thought the idea that strangers would stay in each other’s homes was crazy. Today, millions of people every night do just that.”

He followed up by stating that “we want to go further by supporting and expanding our community so that in 10 years’ time, more than 1 billion people per year will experience the benefits of magical travel on Airbnb.”
