A new website helps couples create a ‘reverse’ wedding list, allowing them to sell their bric-a-brac to guests and raise funds for their wedding day.

Londoner Gemma Daborn came up with the idea of the Reverse Wedding List while planning her own wedding to her husband Marcus. Already living together, they weren't in need of gifts to feather their nest, and didn't want their guests to feel pressured to give them money. Instead, they created a website listing their unwanted possessions and asked their wedding guests to buy them. Their list, which included clothes, children’s toys and a stereo, allowed guests to contribute without having to spend huge sums of money. They married in 2010. Following the birth of their son, Oscar, Daborn attended a Stylist Network Event on how to make the most of maternity leave and was inspired to turn her idea into a business.

For £9.99, couples can create a personalised URL and list-making facility, which will expire one year after your wedding date. Clients are responsible for organising delivery of the items on their list, can also incorporate services such as cooking the buyer dinner.
