A retrospective celebrating the talented artist Dorothea Tanning is here, and you’re invited…
Feed your arty side by treating yourself to an evening at Tate Modern.
Be in with the chance of claiming a free pair of tickets to Stylist’s private view of Dorothea Tanning at Tate Modern.
Tate Modern is celebrating Tanning, the talented surrealist artist, by exhibiting a large-scale exhibition of her work for the first time in 25 years.
It brings together 100 works from enigmatic paintings to uncanny sculptures.
The exhibition – which is on until 9 June 2019 – is a celebration of Tanning’s surreal self-portraits, her arresting (and at times manic) dream-like pieces, including Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (pictured above), plus her fascinating fabric sculptures.
Sinister and surprising, the exhibit shows how Tanning tapped into her love of the Gothic and the macabre to challenge traditional ideas of domesticity and motherhood.
It’s a reminder that she was more than a surrealist; she was a trailblazer and visionary of female creativity.
To celebrate this talented artist, Stylist is inviting you to win a pair of tickets (there are 100 available) to the private viewing from 6.45pm-9pm on Tuesday 9 April.
The invite includes a curator talk, drinks and nibbles- it’s the perfect way to spend a Tuesday evening.
